At Dance North Academy, we share the passion for nurturing the artists of tomorrow, providing a clear pathway to success through intensive training and mentorship. Our commitment to excellence is reflected in our comprehensive Full-Time Program, designed to develop and cultivate the talents of young dancers sought-after on both national and international stages.
Dance North Academy hold auditions annually in the latter half of the year for the following year's intake into our prestigious Full-Time Program. Entry to our program is either by invitation or audition, ensuring that each student is selected based on talent, dedication, and potential.

What does the Live Open Audition process entail?
Our audition process consists of an open ballet class and a contemporary class, allowing us to assess candidates' technical proficiency and artistic expression. Following the audition, all applicants will remain for interviews with our esteemed faculty, providing further insight into their potential fit within our program and discussing applicants’ individual goals and aspirations.
Applicants are not required to prepare any material in advance of the Live Open Audition. We believe in providing a level playing field for all candidates, allowing their natural talents and abilities to shine through in the audition process.
Live Open Audition Schedule:
9:00am Arrival (self warm-up and registration)
10:00 – 11:30am Open Classical Ballet class (1 hr 30 min)
15 minute break
11:45 – 12:15pm Pointe class/Boys class (30 min)
15 minute break
12:30 – 2:00pm Open Contemporary class (1 hr 30 min)
2:00 – 4:00pm Interviews

What to bring and wear for the Live Open Audition?
Applicants may wear any colour leotard, ballet tights, ballet shoes and pointe shoes.
Contemporary black tights.
Water bottle.
Any medication if required.
On the audition day, you will receive an audition number to pin to the front of your leotard.
What does the Online Audition process entail?
The Online Audition process consists of photo and video submissions. The video should be up to but no longer than 15 minutes long and must include all required content including ballet and contemporary work. The video should be submitted as a YouTube or Vimeo link.
Photograph Requirements
1 x Headshot
1 x Tendu a Terre a La Seconde, Arms Second
1 x 4th Position Croise (En Pointe for female applicants)
1 x Arabesque En L'air (side view)
Video Requirements
Barre, no longer than five minutes
Pliés, Tendus, Adagio (including Battements Lents and/or Développés), and Grands Battements.
Centre practice
Pirouette combination with pirouettes En Dehors and En Dedans
Adagio, both sides
Allegro
Petit Allegro and Grand Allegro
Tours En L’air right and left (male applicants only)
Pointe (female applicants only)
Warm Up consisting of Échappés, Relevé and Relevé Passé
Contemporary phrase or solo no longer than 2.5 minutes

New intake for Dance North Academy performance classes is from Term 3 of that year and must be fulfilled to Term 3 of the following year.
Dance North Academy commences new routines for our performance classes during Term 3 of each year. These routines are performed at the end-of-year concert and at the following year's eisteddfod season.
